We hope that you and your fabulous kiddos are adjusting well to our temporary way-of-life during this time.  We all miss them so much and cannot wait until this is all over!  We are planning some summer events and as time goes on, we will decide when that will happen!

We want to thank you all for your patience and flexibility during this time. We are all in this together!

We understand you have questions on our next steps. Your child’s teacher, during their spring break last week, was reaching out to you and your kiddos in an attempt to offer some support and normalcy, while also adjusting to their new “work from home” situation and taking care of their own families.  Meanwhile my leadership team and I have been meeting with and using the guidelines and requirements provided by the New Mexico Public Education Department to develop our Continuous Learning Plan (CLP). This plan consists of seeking out resources for internet and devices for our families in need of that support, support through face-to-face virtual teaching from teachers, training for teachers as needed to implement the plan, a developed “curriculum” to reinforce and review essential learning, models of communication between the school, the parents, teachers and students, and adapting to it all with our own families.  There have been many things to consider and address prior to moving to the “official” plan.  Our staff will be working through the next week in preparing, organizing, learning, creating spaces in their homes, and working through the “kinks” that we encounter along the way to be prepared for the CLP.

Because we need the week for the teacher training, packet preparation, time for licensing to process, and to work out the kinks, we will begin the formal Continuous Learning Plan (CLP) with your child(ren) on Monday, April 13th.

I will be sending an update by Wednesday of next week that will describe the plan in much more detail and the requirements that will be imposed. It will be created like our other suggested schedules we have shared with you in the past. It will have the links to school online resources students have already been using, packets to complete at home, other resource links and information and suggestions for non-screen time activities and things to do.  It will include a reading, writing, math, PE, art and science and social studies, with other considerations for overall student wellness, fun and learning!  We will make sure that all students have access to the learning; one-way-or-another and consider plans for all scenarios, as we know some of our students are at child-care centers during the day and some that might have to share devices and resources.

Please be aware that we are not and cannot replicate the type of learning in our classrooms, but we will provide some learning and routines that will support our students and be ready for their next grade level. We are also in the planning stages for the 2020-2021 school year.
